My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee; Psalm 71:23
SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors' is run almost exclusively by volunteers. Some pastors are paid, others volunteer. Share your creativity across generations and cultural divides. Retirees work alongside young families. Some worship services need volunteers who speak Spanish and Chinese languages. If you like our mission, but don't want to visit elderly people, we have management and administrative opportunities. In the San Francisco Bay Area, we need:
qualified faith leaders to preside at religious services
individuals or teams to visit hospitals, care homes and residences
administrators and managers to work in finance, IT, communications, donor relations and volunteer management
board members to help SpiritCare with strategy, fund-raising, outreach and management
What We Look For
We look for kind, patient and helpful volunteers who can bring joy to residents. Families, youth and adults of all ages are invited to apply.
It helps if you have experience in visiting care homes and helping with religious services, but it's not essential as ongoing supervision is provided by a Faith Leader or Team Leader. Beyond that, we highlight key requirements for each position.
This section is for those who want to serve SpiritCare regularly, e.g. once a month. If you wish to serve with SpiritCare on Menlo Park Church's Serve Day, April 1st, then sign up here.
A board member will give you an initial phone interview
Successful candidates will attend a free Volunteer Orientation Workshop where you will learn more about your role and how to interact with the elderly and their carers.
Based on your skills, interest and experience, SpiritCare will work with you to find projects and assignments. Most likely you will start off with a once-a-month visit to a single facility. There you will get to know a SpiritCare team leader and meet other participants.
