GramCam is a service offered by SpiritCare that enables residents to connect with their family through video chats. Multimedia Experts with tablets, laptops or large smartphones are needed who can work with a building's WiFi or cellular network to help make connections.
Volunteers can also set up devices for seniors to help them send messages. Browsers and screens may need to be set to show larger than usual letters. Headphones may need to be set so that users can hear clearly.
Many residences have large TVs and appreciate volunteers who can connect tablets or cellphones to them to show interesting pictures or play music.

Essential Qualifications
- Ability to set up communications flawlessly, this may involve moving around the facility to get good WiFi coverage
- Respect for private conversations
- Patience in setting up connections and ability to explain to the user why things may not work
- Ability to help technophobes enjoy the benefits of using technology
Other Qualifications
- Technology professionals may get the opportunity to help care homes that have problems setting up their equipment, advising them on router positioning, passwords and network security
Typical Time Commitment
1 hour/month at a residence plus travel & prep time to full time.
